A Honda sports car, the prototype of which was unveiled in 1962. The first commercially available car was the S500, which was equipped with a 500cc engine, as its name suggests, but in 1964 the S600 with a larger displacement was released, and the following year it reached the 800cc S800. The S series, packed with innovative mechanisms such as a DOHC engine with four carburetors and chain drive (up to the early S800 models), is considered to be a historic car as it was the first Japanese car to attract attention from overseas car fans for its driving performance.
