The Evolution IX MR, released in 2006, was also the last model to feature the famous 4G63 engine that had been installed for many years. "MR" is the name of a high-performance model inherited from the classic Galant GTO, and was adopted by the Lancer Evolution starting with the Evolution VIII MR in 2004. The Evolution IX MR features a more refined turbocharger and increased capacity Active Yaw Control (AYC), among other improvements in terms of feel, making it a car that can be considered the culmination of all previous Lancer Evolution models.
